An Update About the 2020-2021 School Year

TCDS will open the new school year remotely on August 5th for all K-8 students, and open in-person schooling on August 17th, or when Governor Ducey lifts his Executive Order that delays in-person schooling. Families will have the option to keep their Champion learning remotely for the entirety of the school year.

Remote learning will include:

  • K-8
  • Five days a week
  • Classes taught by award winning TCDS staff 
  • Google Classroom as the main academic hub for students
  • Class Dojo as the main communication hub for families
  • Students virtually attend classes in small groups with peers and teachers
  • One-on-one tutoring 
  • Clearly articulated schedules
  • Grades and attendance  
  • Social-Emotional Learning
  • Curbside visits from teachers and staff (by request)
  • Virtual field trips around the world
  • Evening events (virtual talent shows, campfires, movie nights, and more!)
  • Lunch pick up for families who order

In-person learning will include:

  • K-8 and Pre-school / Pre-k (date to be determined by Governor Ducey)
  • Five days a week
  • Student learning cohorts of 10 students.
  • Classes taught by award winning TCDS staff 
  • Google Classroom as the main academic hub for students
  • Class Dojo as the main communication hub for families
  • Physical distancing and modified classroom layouts
  • Use of beautiful 11-acre outdoor areas on campus for short periods of learning time
  • Scheduled recess for cohorts of students
  • Enhanced cleaning protocols and hand washing routines (15 outdoor hand washing stations have been assembled)
  • Use of individual supplies as there will be no shared supplies (all K-8 students will need a personal chromebook or laptop)
  • Face coverings (masks or shields) for all staff and students
  • Lunch delivered to students in classrooms/identified eating area on campus

Supplies and Technology

For the health and safety of students and staff, TCDS will be minimizing shared supplies for the 2020-2021 school year and require students to have their own personal supplies that they will keep with them for use at school and home.

TCDS students have three options when it comes to use of computers at school.

Option 1: Purchase a used Chromebook from TCDS

Chromebooks are currently SOLD OUT. Please contact if you are interested in using a TCDS-owned Chromebook (see option 4, below).

If you would like to add your family to a wait list in the event additional used Chromebooks become available, please follow this link and complete the required information.

Option 2: Purchase a new Chromebook

Check vendors such as Best Buy, Amazon, Dell, Walmart, Samsung, or Office Depot, to name a few. If you choose this option it is recommended that you act fast as inventory is limited due to high demand.

Buying tips

Option 3: Bring your own laptop/Chromebook

Chromebooks are different from laptops. Confused? Read this article that explains the differences.

Students may use their own laptops; Windows or Mac laptops must meet the following requirements: 

  • Must be able to run the full (not mobile) version of Google Chrome Browser.
  • Must be able to connect to an advanced wireless system (WPA2 Enterprise) and 5.0 Ghz wireless Wifi.
  • Must have Windows 10 with Defender and Firewall active, Mac OS X 10.11 or higher

Students may also use Chromebooks they already own, but it must have the most recent Chrome OS installed.

Option 4: Use a school owned Chromebook

Students may use a school owned Chromebook by emailing with the request.

Uniform Bottoms: The length of shorts, skirts, skorts, and jumpers must be near the mid-thigh, and be modest in appearance. Leggings can be worn under uniform bottoms as socks or tights. All grade levels have the choice to wear navy blue or khaki bottoms.

Socks and Shoes: Students are expected to wear school-appropriate socks with closed-toed footwear.

Uniform Top: Shirt colors are designated by grade level and must have a collar. The student uniform shirt must be a solid color and cannot have any monograms, stripes, logos (except the TCDS logo) or other markings on them.
