New Learning is an essential part of the learning process as students build on prior knowledge to learn new concepts and skills. Similar to other public schools our Academic Program uses the Arizona K-12 Academic Standards as a foundation. To learn more about these standards for each grade level click here.
Using the Arizona Academic Standards as a guide, teachers design lessons utilizing high quality resources that present new information and give students an opportunity to experience the concept along with any necessary explanations that may help students’ understanding. This means students are actively involved in their learning, not just passively acquiring information being shared by the teacher.

And because TCDS does not adhere to a prescribed “one-size-fits-all” curriculum that expects all students to learn at the same pace, teachers have the freedom to make adjustments to their lessons and to personalize the new learning experience for students.
